Keep it Simple

Who doesn’t love Pesach? Most people, that’s who. It’s extremely stressful and expensive. Having to turn your kitchen over and clean your house. I equate the last Shabbat before Pesach as a version of Chopped from the Food Network. Take a bunch of random ingredients from your pantry and see what you can come up with; frozen lox, canned bean medley, red lentils and canned pickles (could that work?), a concoction of rice and nuts. What can I make with this last bit of duck sauce?

Getting ready for the holiday is so much work, why complicate things even more by trying to conform regular dishes into ones that are kosher for Passover? People spend so much time on Pinterest pinning different kosher for Passover menus and recipes. Keep it simple. Make things you know that exclude flour. There are so many possible options!

Make a chicken that is sauce based or herb based or even salmon. Potatoes, either sweet or rustic, or even a potato kugel requires no flour. Roasted vegetables, vegetable based quiches, soufflés or kugels. Meat stews, quinoa, not to mention the endless salad options.

There is no point in trying to fake something that won’t be authentic. This holiday is difficult enough make things easier on yourself and stick with something you know!

What to elaborate on? Make your seder table amazing, and if you have kids find various ways keep them interested. Here is an awesome tablescape to keep your kids entertained. This will keep them busy so you can enjoy your simple but delicious food :)

Happy Passover to all!
